Maryland dump truck driver injured in turnover accident

Large vehicles such as semi-trucks, tractors and dump trucks often carry immense loads. Should a driver of one of these trucks become involved in an accident, not only could they spill their loads, but they could also be injured in the process.

Recently, a dump truck in Maryland carrying sand turned over after swerving to avoid a collision with a car that cut it off. The truck ended up dumping its large load of sand on north Interstate 270, causing the interstate to close five of its lanes of traffic while the clean up occurred. A second dump truck and a loader were used to clean up the interstate. The interstate was reopened a couple hours after the incident.

According to the police, the car quickly swerved in front of the dump truck, which then collided with the automobile. The driver of the dump truck needed to be excavated from the wreckage. He was injured in the crash, but is expected to survive. There was a second passenger in the dump truck that was able to get out of the vehicle without help.

Many times, it is the operator of a large commercial vehicle that causes an accident. However, in this case the opposite occurred. In general when a driver fails to adhere to the rules of the road and drives recklessly or negligently, causing a car accident, they could find themselves facing a lawsuit brought by the injured party. These suits are important even if the victim has insurance, because there is no guarantee that their insurance will cover all the necessary treatments. Therefore, victims of car accidents should make sure they investigate all their possible means of recovery, in order to be fully compensated.
