Bus accident claims the life of a Maryland pedestrian

Commuting on a bus is often the best way for people in a big city to travel to work, stores, restaurants and many other locations. It is so common that most riders do not expect that an accident may occur. But unfortunately, a recent bus accident claimed the life of a Maryland woman.

A Maryland woman was killed recently in a tragic bus accident. The woman was running in an attempt to catch the bus when she fell down and was hit by the bus. The 58-year-old woman was taken to the hospital but ultimately passed away due to injuries she suffered in the crash. The Metropolitan Police Department is still investigating the incident and is asking anyone who may have information on the incident to contact them as soon as possible.

Bus accidents can potentially be catastrophic. Not only is a bus large and heavy enough to cause significant damage, but it can also injure or kill one of the many passengers on board, other motorists or in this case pedestrians. When this happens victims or their families may seek to hold not only the bus driver, but also the company liable for the crash. There are many factors that go into play when it comes to holding a bus company or the city liable when a crash. For example, whether the driver of the bus is an independent contract or an employee can be an important distinction to make.

Sorting out liability in bus accidents and even car accidents is not always easy. When this happens, seeking the advice of a professional is a good first step to take when it comes to pursuing compensation for the harms suffered in the crash.
