Maryland car accident leaves two in critical condition

Car accidents on Maryland's roads often involve excessive speed. When drivers are driving above the speed limit or too fast for the driving conditions, their reaction time to react to emergencies decreases. It is therefore more likely that a driver will lose control of their vehicle. Additionally, car accidents involving increased speed can lead to serious injuries and even death.

Two vehicles and four victims were involved in a Monday morning crash in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Police report that a Sebring and an Xterra crashed at Old Stage Road and Stewart Avenue. Three victims were flown to a local hospital, and one was taken by ambulance to Shock Trauma. The driver and the passenger of the Sebring remain in critical condition. Police also say that excessive speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. The driver of the Xterra and a fourth victim are in stable condition.

Neighbors in the area are all too familiar with car accidents at this intersection. The speed limit on the road turns from industrial to residential, from 50 miles per hour to 25, in a short distance, and neighbors hear the sound of a crash frequently. Some neighbors are now petitioning local officials to solve the problem with traffic control devices, such as a round a bout.

When a person is injured in a car accident, medical bills and other expenses quickly add up. When this happens, victims of a car accident in Maryland may decide to file a personal injury claim against the other driver. Such a claim can compensate the injured victim for medical bills, physical disability and emotional pain and suffering caused by the accident.
