Maryland car accident injured seven

Maryland drivers understand the dangers that exist on the roadway. Some of those dangers are due to inexperienced or negligent drivers, but some may also be the result of freak accidents. Recently a five-car crash in Howard County sent several people to the hospital. Two of those people suffered life threatening injuries.

The car accident occurred in the middle of the day on Saturday on Route 175 East and Route 108. Following the accident seven people were taken to local hospitals including a 7-year-old boy that remains in critical but stable condition after the multi-vehicle pileup. The boy's father was also seriously injured.

Police say the accident may have been triggered by a truck driver's medical emergency. The truck driver, a 39-year-old man, was traveling eastbound on Route 175 when he began suffering from a "suspected medical emergency." The man was driving a Ford F-350 2013 pickup truck when he crashed into a 2009 Honda CRV that was driven by the 40-year-old father with his young son in the passenger seat. The collision caused a chain reaction that damaged three other cars and sent five others to area hospitals. Police report that the investigation remains ongoing.

A person's life can be significantly impacted when they are injured in a car accident. Maryland residents and families who have been affected by such incidents may find a personal injury attorney's aid to be helpful. The attorney may be able to negotiate a settlement for financial compensation for lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages.
