Maryland woman suffers slip-and-fall injury at airport

A slippery substance on the floor, poorly maintained tile or poor lighting in a stairwell are just a few examples of the wide variety of dangerous conditions that can lurk in stores and business that can cause un-expecting visitors severe injuries and thousands of dollars in medical costs. Such dangerous conditions can cause someone to slip and fall, opening the business to liability for the injuries that people suffer.

A Maryland woman claims she sustained an injury after slipping and falling on a wet bathroom floor two summers ago at the Philadelphia International Airport. The woman from Abingdon, Maryland claims that she became injured in 2011, after falling on water that had pooled on the restroom floor of the ladies room in Terminal B of the airport. Because of the fall she sustained number of injuries to her head, body and limbs as well as a permanent loss of a bodily function.

The woman brought suit against the airport arguing that it negligently failed to maintain and inspect the women's room and failed to give proper and sufficient warnings and notice of the dangerous condition. She also claims that airport failed to give proper instruction to its maintenance crew on the proper placement of "caution" and "slippery when wet" signs. Because of the injury, she now suffers from agonizing aches, pains and mental anguish. She is seeking compensation for her medical costs as well economic damages from lost earnings.

Maryland residents that suffer from slip-and-fall accidents have legal rights. A premises liability suit may help accident victims recover from the damage they have suffered.
