Maryland man dies in head-on collision

Local police report that early Sunday morning a 2013 Toyota Tundra driven by a 58-year-old man from Westminster was traveling south when it crossed over the center line smashing head on into a 1998 Ford Ranger, driven by a 54-year-old man from Taneytown. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders after succumbing to injuries caused by the crash. The driver of the Ford Ranger was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center by a state police medevac trooper for injuries that police called non-life threatening.

A Maryland State Police Accident Reconstructionist came to the scene following the accident to investigate the cause of the accident. Given the time of morning, alcohol was most likely involved in the accident. The accident report will be useful to determine whether the driver of the Toyota was negligent. However, the report is not the final word on what happened and reports can be refuted by expert testimony and eye-witness accounts.

Generally, determining fault in a car accident is the single most important issue for awarding compensation to injured parties. In an accident such as this it may be challenging to determine who was at fault and if the other driver could have prevented an accident. If alcohol or texting was the cause of the accident it may seem like an easy case, but all cases tend to get complicated when navigating Maryland's legal system.

An attorney can help victims of such accidents protect their rights and fight for their just compensation following an accident. Anyone who is the victim of a car accident should understand all of their legal options.
