Maryland man loses consciousness and hits occupied parked car

Every time people start their car and drive they are at risk of being in an auto accident. And each day millions of Maryland citizens get into their vehicles without considering that risks. People think even less of the risk while sitting in a parked car. Unfortunately, accidents do happen often to safe drivers that are involved unexpectedly. For one unlucky Maryland man and his child, exactly that happened on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in a parking lot of a strip mall.

The car accident occurred when a man driving a Toyota Solara lost consciousness while driving down the road. The car kept moving, smashing into a boulevard tree and eventually crashing into a parked Saturn. In the Saturn were the Maryland man and an eight-month-old baby. Thankfully, the child was secured in a child seat at the moment.

The driver of the runaway car woke up from his stupor and tried to get away on foot. He later admitted to huffing from an aerosol can while driving. When the police arrived he was arrested and charged with a number of crimes including negligent driving and wanton and willful disregard for safety of persons and property.

If convicted of charges such as negligent driving and reckless endangerment it becomes much easier for the victim of a car accident to prove that the other driver was driving negligently. Negligent drivers are legally responsible for the accident. Once negligence is proven, accident victims may be entitled to compensation for the damage caused in the accident. This compensation can include medical expenses and damage to property.
