Maryland woman killed in head-on collision

A head-on collision is almost always a tragic accident and can often result in the death of a driver or passenger. Head-on collisions sometimes occur when a driver makes a terrible mistake and enters a lane of oncoming traffic. When a head-on collision results in a death it may be the result of a driver's negligence or misconduct. In such a case, the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life may have the right to seek damages through a wrongful death suit.

A head-on collision involving four vehicles occurred in Maryland recently. One person was killed and another person was injured in the accident, which occurred in the Rosedale area. Police identified the person killed in the accident as 49-year-old woman from Dickerson, Maryland.

The crash remains under investigation. But police report that the woman may have been traveling westbound in an eastbound lane. A driver traveling eastbound in that lane saw the woman's vehicle and tried to swerve to avoid her. Unfortunately the eastbound car was unable to avoid the car and sideswiped the car. The woman's car then ran head-on into a third vehicle.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the third car was transported by ambulance to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and that person's condition remains unknown. The other two drivers were not injured in the collision.

In a head-on collision there is always the possibility of a wrongful death. A wrongful death occurs when a person is killed due to the another person's negligence or wrongdoing. In a wrongful death action, family members and loved ones of a head-on collision victim may bring an action to recover damages for loss of support and loss of companionship.
