Two killed, three badly injured in semi-truck roll-over

Trucks are a vital component of our national economy, crisscrossing the country every day with mountains of cargo. Despite their benefits, when these enormous vehicles get into accidents, their sheer size and weight alone can often result in serious injuries and fatalities.

Take for example a recent car accident: two people are dead and three people have been seriously injured in an accident in Frederick County, Maryland. According to authorities, the car accident involved a semi-truck and a utility pickup truck. It took place at the intersection of Route 75 (Green Valley Road) and Ed McClain Road, south of Adventure Park, U.S.A.

Police say the semi-trailer carrying fruit lost control when driving around a curve, tipped over and landed on top of the pick-up truck. Two people were inside the semi-truck and three people in the pick-up truck. The driver of the semi-truck was flown to shock trauma in a Maryland State Police helicopter while the passenger was taken by ambulance to Fredrick Memorial Hospital. Two inside the pick-up truck died at the scene and the third was flown to shock trauma.

Witnesses heard the brakes of the truck and then a horn. The horn kept blowing for two to three minutes before it went out.

When a commercial truck, for example an eighteen-wheeler tractor trailer, tanker truck, delivery vehicle, and other any other large freight truck, is involved in an accident while being used in the course of business, the company may be held legally liable for the driver's negligence or malfunction of the truck.
