Maryland man killed, 10 others injured in car and bus crash

The accident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. last Saturday night, when a man was killed when his car was involved in a head-on collision with an MTA bus. The driver of the car failed to handle the curve at increased velocity before drifting over the center line. The force of the collision drove the car more than 40 feet backwards, after which point the car caught fire.

The passenger in the car was transported to the hospital, where he was treated and in stable condition. The driver of the MTA bus and eight of the 10 passengers were treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, but authorities did say that both speed and driver errors were major contributing factors. Additionally, the driver of the car and his passenger were not wearing seatbelts.

In this accident, there was an unfortunate fatality; however, the injuries to the passengers of the car and the bus suffered only minor injuries. The results could have been far worse and the destruction far more reaching due to this man's reckless driving. If speed and driver error were factors in the accident, the injuries sustained by the people on the bus may be suitable for personal injury claims.

Additionally, had speed and driver error on the bus driver's part been the factors in the crash, as in, if the roles were reversed, the driver and the bus company would be responsible in some way for the destruction caused. It will be interesting to see if the passengers injured in this case pursue legal action for their experience.
