Car accident victim dragged for miles beneath car

Dangerous weather conditions can lead to serious car accidents on the road. To avoid such accidents motorists must drive with extra caution. As Maryland drivers understand, it takes experience for motorists to become accustomed to certain weather conditions and without adequate attention to the road, accidents are likely to occur. When a driver is driving recklessly, dangerous conditions on the road mean the likelihood of car accidents increases dramatically.

Recently, a 31-year-old man was driving in neighboring Virginia when he spun out of control in wet conditions and hit a tree. He was ejected from his car and thrown out onto the road. Another driver – without realizing it – hit the man and actually dragged him along under his car for about four miles.

Finally, another motorist noticed he was dragging a person under his vehicle and was able to alert him. Police reported that the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries he suffered from being dragged under the car. The driver claims he saw the first vehicle crash into the tree and just thought he ran over some debris from the accident.

Readers may question just what frame of mind a driver would have to be in to hit a person in the road and drag him for miles while remaining completely oblivious to the fact. Regardless of the truth or falsehood of such an excuse, or regardless of whether criminal charges are filed or not, a victim injured by a distracted or otherwise negligent driver has the right to pursue a claim for compensation. A legal professional can help an injury victim manage the many financial and legal concerns that will arise during recovery from an auto accident.

Not paying adequate attention and driving with appropriate caution during poor weather conditions may be evidence of negligence. Maryland residents should stand up for their rights when injured due to another driver’s negligence.
