School bus accident results in 6 non-life threatening injuries

Four students and two others were injured in a school bus accident in front of Julius West Middle School. The accident involved one other vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee. Three children and two adults were examined for their injuries and one child was seriously injured. The exact nature of the accident is not yet known.

The students on the bus who were not transported to the hospital for examination were bused to their school on another vehicle and all were evaluated by a school health staffer there. One of the adults injured in the accident was the bus driver, the other adult, the driver of the Cherokee, was also evaluated for minor injuries.

Parents trust that when they put their children on the bus in the morning, they will be safe and sound getting to and from school. They put immense trust in the bus drivers to ensure this. However, where there are other drivers involved, there is always an unknown element.

Injuries sustained in car and bus accidents can seem minor at the time but later develop into more serious conditions, such as whiplash developing into chronic pain later. The evaluations of the injured and non-injured passengers and drivers will hopefully ensure that they receive the proper treatment as soon as possible. Children are often more greatly injured in a minor accident than an adult would be, due to the growing nature of their bodies. However, medical care can become very expensive with these chronic conditions over time, and the fault of the accident may give parents the opportunity to seek help in paying for these costs.
