Cause of fatal three-vehicle wreck still under investigation

On Tuesday, an 18-year-old girl was driving her car in Joppa, Maryland. Everything was okay until her vehicle suddenly crossed the double yellow lines and was suddenly face to face with on-coming traffic. Her vehicle collided with two other cars, one of which burst into flames. The passengers in that vehicle were able to escape; one other person had to be rushed to the hospital with serious injuries; but unfortunately, the 18-year-old lost her life in the crash.

Investigators are still looking into the wreck and trying to uncover why the young girl's car suddenly swerved into oncoming traffic. It is possible the car accident happened due to a mechanical failure or an unforeseen medical event that incapacitated the 18-year-old, causing the car to go all over the road.

Most car accidents can be traced back to driver error. This label can encompass many different reasons for the crash. The driver may not have been paying attention, may it be due to looking at something on the side of the road or because the driver was talking with friends in the car. The driver may have been texting or making a phone call, which dramatically reduces someone from reacting to the ever-changing nature of traffic. Or, the driver may have changing the radio or entering an address into a GPS device.

In every scenario, the driver's negligence, recklessness or other irresponsible act caused the accident; and the victims in such a wreck can seek compensation for their injuries and hardship through a personal injury lawsuit.
