Plea made to find those responsible for Montgomery Co. fatality

A Montgomery County man's tearful plea for help in finding the drivers of two vehicles that are believed to have been involved in the death of his wife struck a discordant note within the walls of our offices. It brought to mind for us deeply the reality that losing a loved one in an unexpected accident is perhaps the hardest thing anyone can endure.

It doesn't help, either, that there are so many unanswered questions about the accident that claimed the life of this 31-year-old wife and mother. According to Montgomery County police, Nelvis Garcia died in a crash last week at Randolph Road and Timberview Court. They say they believe she was the unwitting victim of a street racing incident. It's thought that one of the speeding vehicles clipped her car, causing it to flip several times.

Officials do have some leads. They say they're looking for a dark gray four-door car and a green and white Mini Cooper. Both were seen leaving the scene following the accident. Three witnesses have stepped up to speak with police and officials suspect that because the road is well traveled that there were more witnesses to the crash.

In a heart wrenching display the day after the accident, the victim's husband and family placed flowers at the site. He then issued a plea asking the public to please cooperate in the investigation. He said he wasn't making his request on behalf of his dead wife. Rather, he said he hoped witnesses would come forward to prevent future deadly accidents.

The death of this woman leaves her husband behind as the lone parent of their 4-year-old daughter.
