3 injured in crash with unmanned vehicle near Fredrick

Have you ever been driving along the roads of Montgomery County behind a truck hauling cars when the thought flits through your mind, "what would happen if one of those cars broke loose?" It's a nightmare to think about how life could be changed in a flash by such a car accident.

It became something of a reality over the weekend for three people. Maryland State Police say the three were riding in an SUV on eastbound I-70 near Mussetter Road Saturday night when they collided with a larger, Chevrolet Suburban, in the middle of the road. Their vehicle collided with the unmanned Suburban. Officials say the driver and two passengers in the smaller SUV were taken to a shock trauma center in Baltimore.

Their injuries are reported to be non life threatening, but that doesn't mean they aren't life altering.

So, how did it happen? Police say a tow truck operator was in the process of loading the Suburban onto the rear of his truck. For some unexplained reason, the truck rolled off the back of the truck and into the oncoming eastbound traffic lanes, where it became a hazard.

Experienced personal injury lawyers know the importance of obtaining as much information as possible about what happened in a car accident. As thorough as police may be, they aren't always able to dedicate time and energy to get to the bottom of a matter. Without all the details, it's possible that someone hurt in an accident might not be able to recover the full compensation they are due.
